How to choose your escape game team

Whether you're an expert or a beginner, an escape game gives you the chance to experience a unique moment with your friends and family. Even though it's a leisure activity, everyone has their own role to play and their own logic to contribute. To make sure you maximise your chances of success, here's our advice on how to put your team together!

We've already touched on the subject, but it's important to come back to it so that you have the best escape game experience possible. First of all, define your expectations: has competition taken over from fun and do you want to win at all costs? Or do you want to have a good time without necessarily getting out of the room in time? Depending on your answers, some profiles will be more frustrating than others. To avoid disappointment, it's best to invite people who you think will make a constructive and cooperative contribution.

If you're new to the world of adventure games and preparing for your first experience, chances are you're a little scared to take the plunge. It's normal, you're throwing yourself into the unknown and rest assured, there's nothing but good waiting for you behind that door. To make sure you have a good time, without necessarily having to set your sights on victory, we recommend that you have the right support. Make sure there's someone in your team who has already played this type of game, otherwise you risk missing out on the fun and cooperative aspect of the escape game. In fact, at first you're a bit shy and don't dare search a room you don't know from top to bottom. When you find a clue, you don't necessarily have the reflex to share it with the others, and even with the assistance of a good game master, your chances of success will be slim. You'll come very close to winning, and that's as frustrating as when you're a child and you've lost at angling. We therefore recommend a ratio of two players who have already done escape rooms and who will guide you during your session.

You've already practised in two or three rooms and you're starting to adopt a certain logic when you leave for a session. You even have a few tips to give before you start, such as "split up in each corner of the room and say everything you find out loud". The time for discovery is over, now you want to get out before 1 o'clock. You've already done several escape games with your team and the idea of doing one with another group doesn't appeal to you all that much. But you also want to introduce your friends and family to this trendy pastime, so that you can share a moment of unusual pleasure and, why not, impress a potential target. We know what you mean! The escape game is such an immersive and exotic pastime that it would be a shame not to share it with your friends. We therefore advise you to take advantage of one or more cancellations by members of your usual team to bring in new recruits.

You can see her arriving in the distance, lined up, walking in slow motion and looking confident. Like badasses ready to take on any challenge. This is the winners' team. They're not particularly close in life, sometimes they don't even know each other, and some of them only know each other from escape game challenges. They're always together and on the ball when a game is organised. They each have a predefined role and, like a team of highly-trained bank robbers, they have an action scenario well in mind before they start. They only listen to the brief to pick up clues. No smiles, no jokes. What's happening is serious and they have only one goal: to set the fastest time. Be careful if you're part of a winning team. Any slip-up, piece of clothing left unsearched or clue overlooked will cost you your place and a look of contempt from the others. We have just one piece of advice for you, experts... Relax... It's only a game.
