Read the interview with Agent J, who gives you his advice on creating a tailor-made escape game!
Some time ago, Kairos was the scene of a very special escape game.
In collaboration with Publicis, they created a tailor-made escape game for a special La Banque Postale operation. The aim: to scare web celebrities. Here's a look back at the experience from agent J, creator of the ephemeral escape game.
How were you approached by Publicis?
One of the partners was contacted by Digitas (Publicis) to create a brand content operation for Banque Postale. As part of their new campaign, they were looking for an escape game capable of creating a scenario from scratch to promote the purchase of property using web celebrities, all in just a few weeks. After a visit to the Kairos game rooms and several fruitful discussions, the operation was launched.
Isn't converting an escape game room for just one day a bit risky?
We had to close the room 24 hours beforehand, dismantle it completely and reassemble it with new sets, and test the electronic and mechanical scenarios between two games. Our great advantage at Kairos is that we can modify all these aspects ourselves. It wasn't risky, thanks to our know-how, because we have everything on site to create ephemeral escape games. A creative team, a technical team, all motivated to create the decors and work and original plots. Our main motivation was to satisfy our customer and provide a frightening experience for their guests.
What qualities do you think you need to make this type of event a success?
There's only one thing: you need a great team! As long as you have confidence in them and they respond to the call efficiently and professionally, as was the case here, then the implementation of a life-size escape game is bound to go well.
What were the most difficult constraints to overcome?
The main constraint was the tight schedule. As well as creating the plot, the first thing to do was to draw up the broad outlines of the scenario, which would form the basis for the electrical installations, sound and lighting effects and their sequencing. Then we think about the twist, the surprises and the general atmosphere. There are validation times to take into account, especially when there are so many intermediaries. After the first proposal to the client to validate the general pitch, there are feedbacks, modifications, and we adapt to satisfy the client. This can happen a few days beforehand, sometimes even the day before! Finally, it's the riddles that are modified because it's easier to change them at the last minute thanks to our expertise.
If I had to do it all over again?
All the way, with the same team!
